In excerpts released from her brother Albert’s book “Albert II of Monaco: The Man and the Prince”, Princess Caroline (his older sister) was candid about her relationship with her parents, specifically her mother, the everlasting screen legend Grace Kelly.
In the book, she revealed that she wouldn’t even eat dinner in the same room as her parents until she was 14 years old. She also claimed that the most important adult in her life as a child was their nanny, Maureen Wood:
“When we were little, we were probably closer to our nanny than to our parents.”
She said.
Their relationship with the nanny was so close that the two would cry and beg her to come back from her summer vacation. “We were sad for days,” said Caroline, and that their mother would often ask Maureen to return early.
Despite this, Caroline and her siblings had a wonderful childhood and shared nice moments with their parents too. But when she became a mother herself, Caroline immediately decided to spend more time with her children, having with them the closer relationship possible.
