HBO Max’s upcoming revival And Just Like That, whose trailer was released few days ago, is bringing back the stars of the original Emmy-winning hit, exept for Kim Cattrall’s Samantha, one of the most beloved character of the series.
Cattrall didn’t want to take part to the reunion, due to her difficult relationship with Sarah Jessica Parker (they never got along) and her skepticism about filming another Sex and the City series.

How will the show explain her absence?
But how will the show explain her absence? Star Sarah Jessica Parker and writer Michael Patrick King, the executive producers, are “not trying to re-do Sex and the City,” HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys claimed to TVLine. “They’re not trying to say that these characters are reliving their 30s. It is very much a story about women in their 50s, and they are dealing with things that people deal with in their 50s.”

According to Bloys, the iconic Samantha won’t be there because she’s simply not part of the gang anymore, falling out of touch with the others (also because of a quarrel with Carrie).
“Just as in real life, people come into your life and people leave”, said Bloys.
“Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages — the actual stages of life. They’re trying to tell an honest story about being a woman in her fifties in New York.”
“So it should all feel somewhat organic, and the friends that you have when you’re 30, you may not have when you’re 50.”
I think they should explain the missing friend, Samantha. If it was about who stays and who leaves in your life then there should be other friends introduced. In real life you have friends that have stayed in your life for 50 years and you have friends that have only been in your life for 5 years. What it is showing us by not explaining is, it’s everyone EXCEPT Samantha.
When men get old , it’s not discussed . What do people think we do not age???? We will not win if we do improvement procedures or age gracefully, criticism will come!
