The long-awaited sequel to Enchanted is coming!
Disenchanted is set to arrive on Disney+ in fall 2022, 15 years after the original film’s release. Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey are set to reprise their roles.
The sequel will have even more songs than the previous chapter. The prestigious composers are Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz.
Here the announcement from Adams and Dempsey, posted on Disney+ Twitter channel.
While the original movie, a satire of the classic Disney princess story, had a theatrical release, viewers will be able to see the sequel from their homes: “Disenchanted” will exclusively stream on Disney Plus.
“I will be singing for the first time”, said Patrick Dempsey. “I’ve never ever sung publicly—for a reason. So bear with me. I hope the fans embrace it. But they’ve set me up for success and the lyrics are really fun. The numbers have really great choreography. And the premise is going to be interesting.”
“It’s such an important film for [Disney] and it’s a satire”, he added. “It’s not a typical Disney movie. It’s kind of off-brand a little bit. Yet we give honor to all of those Disney movies that have come before and they finally now have figured it out,” he noted. “And we’re old enough, so it’s like a midlife crisis movie. To work with everybody again after 14 years is just really exciting!”
Finally, Dempsey underlined the importance of Disenchanted in this particular moment in history: we all need a bit of joy.
