Margot Robbie Embraces Barbie Vibes in Pink Versace Mini Dress

Continuing to channel her film character, the 32-year-old Australian actress showcases a penchant for doll-like fashion, embracing an array of pink ensembles.

At a Barbie-themed event held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, Australia, the starlet stunned in a lustrous pink metal mesh Versace dress. The garment featured a sweetheart neckline corset top that seamlessly transitioned into a breezy skirt, gracefully falling just above her knees.

Keeping her overall look elegantly understated, she opted for complementary pink transparent sandals and a tousled, windswept natural hairstyle. A touch of rosy blush and a deep pink lipstick completed her simple yet captivating ensemble.

The dress paid homage to the ’90s, drawing inspiration from an archival Versace piece that was initially worn by model Claudia Schiffer in 1994, as revealed by her stylist Andrew Mukamal on his Instagram Story. Mukamal shared a photo of Schiffer gracefully dancing in the dress, capturing the captivating play of light that lent the garment a shimmering and ethereal allure.

Schiffer herself expressed her admiration for Robbie’s choice, stating on Instagram, “Margot Robbie has great taste 😉 @chanelofficial & @versace looks then and now.” She also highlighted the pink Chanel jacket that Robbie wore at the airport, a garment that Schiffer had originally donned in the ’90s.

However, the chrome pink Versace ensemble wasn’t the only ’90s-inspired look that Mukamal drew inspiration from. Earlier in the day, Robbie sported a pink cable-knit cropped sweater paired with a leather box pleat skirt, echoing the similar color palette of her evening attire, while attending a Barbie fan event in Sydney.

To complete the ensemble, she accessorized with ankle-high pink socks and loafers adorned with gold accents. Simple silver rings and a subtle rosy makeup complemented her overall look. Her hair was expertly styled into flawless waves.

Mukamal further revealed that the outfit drew inspiration from the 1994-1995 Versace Fall Ready-to-Wear collection. To illustrate the connection, he shared a photo of the original look that served as the inspiration for Robbie’s ensemble. The attention to detail in the outfit was nearly identical, with the only addition being a pair of white summer sunglasses that Robbie sported during the event.

Over the past few weeks, Robbie has been embracing the pink dress code of Barbiecore fashion. In a recent appearance at a Barbie photo call in Los Angeles alongside her co-star Ryan Gosling and the film’s writer/director, Greta Gerwig, she donned a pink polka-dot dress that seemed straight out of Barbie’s own wardrobe.

In a recent interview with TIME, the actress discussed the possibility of future installments of the much-anticipated film. “I believe it’s easy to fall into a trap when you attempt to lay the groundwork for a first movie while also planning for sequels,” remarked Robbie.
